Paul Hamm Diary: May 28, 2004

Have you been to all 50 states? If not, where have you not had the opportunity to go?
I’m pretty sure I haven’t been to all 50 states, but I have been to a lot. There are some states I’ve been to that I can’t even remember, but the one state that I know I haven’t been to is Delaware.

What is your favorite city in the U.S.? Why?
I’d have to say my favorite city in the U.S. is New York City because whenever I go there it’s really exciting and there is a ton of stuff to do.

How many countries have you been to?
About eight, I believe.

What is your favorite international place to compete? Why?
Sydney has been my favorite place so far. It was a great place for the Olympics and I also really enjoyed the city.

Do you miss your family and friends and when you travel?
When I’m traveling I do miss my family and friends, but I usually have teammates with me which makes it easier. We are pretty busy when we travel so it limits the amount of time we can miss family and friends.

Do your family and/or friends ever travel with you to competitions?
They don’t actually travel with me, but my parents do go to certain meets such as Championships and the Olympic Trials.

What is the longest amount of time you have been on the road traveling?
The tour after the Olympics in 2000 was about 2-1/2 months, so that has been the longest amount of time.

If you could choose any place in the world for the Olympics to be held, where would you choose?
Definitely in the United States because I would love to compete in the Olympics on our home ground. It would be really exciting and comfortable as well.
