History of Soccer

Soccer Ball

Present in every corner of the world, loved by young and old alike, with spectatorship running into the millions, it is not surprising that Soccer, known as Football throughout the world, is considered the “King of Sports.”

According to Soccer history, people have been coming together to kick around a ball for thousands of years. “Tsu Chu” from China, “Kemari” from Japan, and “Episkyros” from ancient Greece are all precursors to Soccer!

Soccer in its modern form was established with the formation of the Football Association of England in 1863, and mostly developed in England.

The Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA) was founded in Paris in1904.Soccer became an Olympic sport at the 1908 Games in London. About a hundred years later, Women’s Soccer was inducted into the 1996 Olympics at Atlanta. Soccer celebrated 100 years as an Olympic Sport at the Sydney Games.
