Blaine Wilson Diary: May 28, 2004
Have you been to all 50 states? If not, is there one place you would really like to see?
No, I haven’t been to all 50 states, but I’d say most of them. The one place I really wanted to go and had not had the opportunity to see was Florida, but then we turned around and competed in three Visa American Cup competitions there. There isn’t really one place I haven’t been that I really want to see.
How many countries have you been to?
I don’t know off the top of my head, but I want to say 9 or 10.
What is your favorite international place to compete? Why?
South Africa was my favorite place because it was my first international experience as a little kid. I was floored by all the stuff going on there and the scenery was outstanding. It was a huge experience for me.
Do you miss your family and friends and when you travel? Do they get to travel with you often?
My dad usually travels with me, but other than that the rest of my family doesn’t travel too often. I definitely miss them, but we’re usually gone for such short period of time that it’s not too bad.
What is the longest amount of time you have been on the road traveling?
For the Olympic Games and/or World Championships we are usually gone for about a month, which I think is the longest amount of time.
If you could choose any place in the world for the upcoming Olympics to be held, where would you choose?
I’d say back in Sydney because that place is awesome! I didn’t get to see all of the stuff I wanted to see, so I wouldn’t mind going back there to compete.
