Halloween Safety
You can have lots of fun when you go to Trick or Treat, but make sure you are safe as well. Here are a few hints for kids and parents alike on how to make this and every Halloween safe and fun despite the ghosts and goblins that might surround trick-or-treeters at every turn:
- Carry a flashlight to light your way
- Stay on the sidewalks
- Stay in neighborhoods that you are familiar with
- Visit homes that have lights on
- Carry quarters in case you need to call home
- Wear light-colored or reflective clothing so you are more visible (make sure to put reflective tape on any accessories you might have like brooms or swords)
- Make sure to tell your parents where you’re going
- Never go into a strangers house to get your treats, only accept them at the door
- Let your parents inspect your candy before eating it
- Look left, right, and left again before crossing the street
