Chevron Cars Love to Celebrate the Holidays
Now that we’re entering into the holiday season, we need to remember all of the different holidays everyone celebrates. Each person has their own way of celebrating, just like each one of the Chevron Cars does. One of the holidays some people (and Chevron Cars) like to honor is a Jewish holiday called Chanukah. Chanukah (pronounced Han;nukah), which means dedication in Hebrew, is an 8 day celebration.
It is celebrated by Jewish people who light a menorah, enjoy festive meals, and play traditional games. The menorah looks like a big candlestick, except it has a holder for nine candles instead of one. One candle is used to light each of the others, one night at a time. So, after 8 days, all of the candles are burning.
Jewish people celebrate these days because thousands of years ago they fought to get their temple back from people who had taken it away. The temple is a place to pray which is very important to Jewish people. When they won their temple back they lit their menorah with oil that was only supposed to last one day. Instead, it lasted for eight days, and that’s why its an 8 day celebration!
