Time Capsule
With the approach of not only a new century, but also a new millennium, it’s important to remember our history. Have you ever seen something of your grandparents that seems really old? Perhaps a picture of them when they were a baby? We sometimes forget to hold on to things because they don’t seem all that important, but if you do decide to keep some of your things throughout your life, you’ll find that they were worth keeping. And what better way to do that then with a time capsule?
A time capsule is something that people usually put together and bury. Then, years later they unbury it and realize how neat it is to see these things again. You can make yourself a time capsule too, here’s how:
- Choose your container. It should be something that can withstand the elements while being underground for years. A big tupperware container would work well or perhaps a cooler.
- Choose your contents. Pick things that mean something to you. It could be a picture of you and your best friend. It could be a letter someone sent to you. Or perhaps some baseball cards, a favorite CD or Chevron Car.
- Pack up all of your items into your container and find a place to bury it. If you don’t have a yard to bury it in, put it in a place where you won’t see it, but somewhere you can go back to years later and find it, like a basement.
- Hide your time capsule. If you do decide to bury it, make sure you measure exactly where you bury it, and write it down so you can find it later.
- Wait 10, 15, 20 years, or as long as you’d like and then unbury or unhide it. You’ll love to see all of your old favorites!
