Recycled Crayons
Don’t throw out those old crayon stubs just yet! You can be a good conservationist and have fun recycling your old crayons into new shapes for you and your friends. Remember to ask an adult to help you with this project.
- Several old crayons
- A selection of cookie cutters or candy molds
- An old saucepan that isn’t needed anymore
- Aluminum foil
- Take all the paper wrappers off the crayons.
- Put the crayons in the old saucepan.
- Place the saucepan on the stove and turn the heat on low. This will slowly melt the wax crayons.
- Spread a sheet of aluminum foil and put the cookie cutters on it.
- Pour the melted wax into the cookie cutters. You might have to hold the cookie cutters down to keep the melted wax from running out the bottom of the molds.
- Wait for the wax to set and cool. When they’re all cooled off, you can pop your new crayons out of the molds.
