Paper Jack O’Lanterns
Carving a pumpkin can be very hard work. Here’s a fun and easy way to make a Jack O’Lantern or if you like, a whole pumpkin patch full of them. You won’t need to wait till pumpkins are in season either. Don’t forget to ask an adult to help you.
- Newspaper
- Brown paper lunch bag
- Rubber band
- Orange poster paint
- Paintbrush
- Pencil, pen or marker
- Black construction paper
- Green construction paper
- Child Safety Scissors
- White craft glue
- Cover table with newspaper.
- Fill paper bag with crumpled newspaper.
- Tightly wrap the rubber band around neck of bag for pumpkin’s stem.
- Paint stuffed bag with orange poster paint and allow to dry completely.
- While the paint is drying, draw 3 triangles on the black construction paper for the eyes and nose.
- On the black construction paper, draw 2 jagged lines, one below the other, with a little space between them. This is the mouth.
- Cut out the eyes, nose, and mouth from the black construction paper.
- Glue them onto the paper bag pumpkin.
- Cut a stem from green construction paper.
- Glue stem into top of pumpkin.
