Make a Lei
This is a fun project and a very easy one to do. In honor of Lei Day, you can make a lei for all of your friends and people you love. This is a memorable way to bring some of the soft, colorful magic and history of Hawaii into your life.
- Construction paper in many colors
- Colored straws
- Yarn
- Paper punch
- Scissors
- Cut different sized flowers out of construction paper
- Punch holes in the middle of the flowers
- Cut one inch pieces of straw
- Cut a piece of yarn to hang around your neck (make sure you cut it a little longer than desired so you have room at the end to tie it)
- Now, start stringing it all together. Alternate between a flower and a piece of straw until you have your lei.
- Tie at the end and give to all of your friends!
