Try this fun project where you give your handprint as a present. What could be more personal? Most mothers would love this unique and personal gift. You will also enjoy looking back at how small your hands were as you grow older. Whether making a gift or memento, make sure you ask an adult for help with the oven.

- Cookie sheet
- String or ribbon
- Colored marker
- Cookie sheet
- Wax paper
- Rolling pin
- Mix the water and food coloring (any color you want) together.
- Add in the flour and salt and mix together. The dough should be pretty stiff.
- Form dough into a ball about the size of a tennis ball.
- Roll out the dough on a large piece of wax paper into as a round a shape as possible leaving it about 1/2 inch thick.
- Spread out your fingers, center your hand over the dough, and press deeply. Make sure you do not press all the way to the bottom.
- Use a pencil to make two holes through the dough at the top of the circle.
- Place on a cookie sheet and cook at 200 degrees for 2-3 hours. Check periodically to ensure that it does not burn.
- When it is finished it should be hard. Allow to cool and then decorate. You can write your name on it, write a message to your mom, or draw pictures on it.
- Cut a piece of string or ribbon about one foot in length. Tie this string through the two holes at the top and tie together. This beautiful decoration can now be hung on the wall.
