Egyptian Art
In ancient Egyptian art, the human figure is usually seen as many different angles blended together. The head, arms and legs are shown in a profile view but the shoulders and the top torso face frontward. The lower torso twists to a profile position. Over and over you see these sorts of figures which aren’t very accurate depictions of the human form, but interesting to look at nonetheless. Look at the 2 Egyptian figures in this photo. Do you see similarities? Try drawing your own Egyptian figure. Make sure to give them color. Though the color has long worn off, when these figures were first carved, they were painted with brilliant colors.
Here are some tips to draw your ancient Egyptian figure:
- Make sure you put some sort of headdress on your figure
- Make sure the face is turned to the side
- Give your figure an elaborate gold necklace
- If it is a man, he should wear a skirt
- If it is a woman, she should wear a dress that has one shoulder strap
- Color them brightly!
