Eggshell Mosaics

Eggshell Mosaics After the Easter Bunny has visited and you’ve discovered all your surprises, what happens to all those beautiful painted eggs? Easter eggs are often hardboiled and delicious to eat. If your family has hardboiled eggs, here’s a way to have fun with the pretty left over shells. There is no need to throw them away, for they can become part of somethng beautiful.

  • Left over Easter eggshells
  • A few bowls
  • Thin piece of cardboard
  • A fine marker
  • White glue

  1. Save all the leftover colored shells.
  2. Break the shells into pieces that are small enough to lie flat, but not so small that they’re hard to handle.
  3. Separate the colors into different bowls.
  4. On a thin piece of cardboard, use the marker to draw the outline of a design. Keep the design simple and keep the areas of the design a fair size. Very small areas are hard to work.
  5. Spread white glue on one area of the design.
  6. Fill in the glued area with eggshell pieces. Leave a small gap around the pieces. Continue until your design is all filled in. Be careful not to cover up your outline.
  7. Let the mosaic dry over night. Keep it flat while it’s drying.
