Peppermint Ice Cream
If your taste buds like to tingle, they’ll like this fun ice cream recipe. Whether you eat it out of a bowl or scoop it into an ice cream cone, it’ll be extra delicious because you made it. Remember to ask an adult who knows what they are doing to help you.
- A friend to help roll the can
- 3 lb. coffee can with plastic cover
- 1 lb. coffee can with plastic cover
- 2 cups whipping cream
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
- Red food coloring
- Crushed peppermint stick (about 3 Tablespoons.)
- Crushed ice
- Rock salt
- Place 1 lb. can in center of 3 lb. can.
- Fill 1 lb. can with whipping cream, sugar, vanilla and peppermint extracts, food coloring and crushed peppermint stick.
- Replace cover on 1lb. can.
- Place a layer of crushed ice around the small 1 lb. can.
- Place a layer of rock salt on top of the ice.
- Continue to alternate layers of ice and salt.
- Replace cover on 3 lb. can.
- Sit in a circle on the floor with your friend and roll the can back and forth for about 15 minutes. (the kitchen floor would be best)
- Carefully open the cans and scoop your ice cream out of the center can.
