Healthy Snack Recipes for Kids

Peeled Banana

When you come home from school in the afternoon are you tempted to eat the bag of cookies or chips that’s sitting in the cupboard? Next time, instead of reaching for that chocolate chip cookie or brownie, try one of these delicious and healthy snacks. These will help you to stay energetic, healthy and happy!

Banana Ice Cream: Cut a ripe banana into several large pieces (about 1-2 inches long) and place in a plastic bag. Place the bag in the freezer and let sit until the banana pieces are hard. When you’re ready to eat, place the banana pieces in a blender with a small amount of water or juice and blend until smooth. Top with nuts if desired and enjoy!

Ants on a log: Cut a few celery sticks and spread some peanut butter on each stick, Then, stick some raisons on top of the peanut butter and enjoy!

Fantastic Fruit Kabobs: Take a few wooden skewer sticks and place pieces of fruit on the stick (try bananas, pineapple chunks, apple pieces, grapes, etc.) in any order you want. Keep adding fruit until the stick is almost full. Then, gently roll the fruit stick in a plate filled with yogurt until the fruit is coated with the yogurt. Finally, sprinkle with granola, nuts, raisons or coconut.
