Hot Chocolate
There’s nothing like a cup of hot chocolate to warm you up on a winter’s day. The President himself likes to have a cup on a gray day and here is the very recipe that Mrs. Laura Bush uses to prepare it for President George W. Bush.
Don’t forget to ask a responsible and reliable adult for assistance.
- 6 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa
- 6 tablespoons sugar
- Pinch of salt
- 2 1/2 cups of milk
- 2 1/2 cups of light cream
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- Pinch of cinnamon powder
- Whipped cream
- Orange zest (very fine slivers of orange peel)
- Pot
- Wooden spoon with a long handle
- Warm Mugs
- Mix the cocoa, salt and sugar together in a pot.
- Add the milk.
- Heat the milk mixture and stir gently until it has dissolved.
- Add the light cream, cinnamon and vanilla.
- Heat to just under boiling.
- Mix very well and pour into a warm mug. (You can warm mugs by filling them with warm water from the faucet.)
- Top with the whipped cream, a little cocoa powder and a little orange zest!
