Gingerbread Valentines
Here is a tasty Valentine’s Day cookie recipe you can share with family, friends and maybe someone extra special. You can use a heart-shaped cookie form to create the cookies, or carefully cut unique shapes exactly the way you want yourself.
Whatever you do, don’t forget to ask a responsible adult to help you.
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup margarine
- 1/2 cup packed dark brown sugar
- 1/3 cup dark corn syrup
- 1 large egg
- heart shaped cookie cutter
- In large bowl, sift first five ingredients together.
- In a separate bowl, blend margarine and sugar till smooth.
- Add corn syrup and egg; beat well.
- Add the sifted flour and spices, 1/3 at a time. Mix until smooth after each addition.
- Chill dough one hour.
- Roll out 1/2 of dough on lightly floured surface to 1/4 inch thickness.
- Use cookie cutter to cut out heart shapes.
- Put hearts on cookie sheet.
- Bake at 350 degrees till golden, 15 to 20 minutes.
- Remove from oven and carefully put cookies on wire rack to cool.
- Make another batch of cookies with remaining dough.
