Views From Our Shoes
Views From Our Shoes, edited by Donald Meyer is a collection of stories from real kids just like you. But theyhave brothers or sisters who are different. They have special needs. There are more than four million people in our country with a variety ofdisabilities and they probably have brothers or sisters. The stories inthis book are from these family members. Their ages range from 4 to 18and they live in 18 different states. The essays talk about the goodstuff, the bad stuff and all the stuff in between that goes along withhaving a brother or sister with mental retardation, blindness, cerebralpalsy or other types of disabilities.
This is a great book to learn about other people and how they deal withtheir special family needs. If your sibling has a disability, you’llsee you aren’t alone. If your sibling isn’t disabled, yourunderstanding of others will grow.
