Harry Potter and The Sorcerer’s Stone
Arguably the most talked about book since Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the Harry Potter books by J.K. Rowling deliver magical adventures for kids of all ages. In the first book of the series, our unlikely hero, Harry, has been living in the muggle (or, human) world since his parents died in a mysterious accident that left him with a lightening-shaped scar on his forehead. On his eleventh birthday, Harry receives and invitation to attend a school called Hogwarts. Eventually, he learns that his parents were actually powerful magicians, and that he is meant to follow in their footsteps.
After he escapes his horrible life with the muggles, he is propelled into a world where wizards, witches, spells, pixies, and a game called Quidditch are taken very seriously. Little does Harry know, but the people in this magical world think quite highly of him. His adventures make for good reading– you’ll be clamoring for more as soon as you finish this first book.
